Just like Olivia Newton John, let's get Physical....ok?

I haven't spent much time talking about the ongoing "Massive Weight Loss 2010."  As always, "massive" is a huge misnomer but I'd like to think that big titles will equal big results?!  I got my starve on before we left for Greece this summer but after that I've kinda been in a holding pattern as far as working out and eating really "clean" are concerned. Well no more friends. It's time to get crack-a-lackin' (again) and get my derriere back to the gym (consistently, no, once a week isn't good enough.)
 Turkey fest Thanksgiving, and candy binge Halloween are behind us and there's honestly not a lot going on in November so what better time then now to work on my fitness? My pre-New Years resolution is to do my darnedest to not gain a mountain of el-bees over the Christmas season.  And if anything, by creating a buffer of sorts now (fitness and weight-wise) then I can deal with the inevitable indulgences (read: chocolate, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, egg-nog) that are coming my way next month while still fitting into any dresses I may want to wear to Christmas parties. (Currently my calendar is open and I'm accepting party invites, feel free to send them my way...)

Lets talk strategy...

{80's aerobics? No, no leotards necessary. I'm talking about working out at the gym 3+ times a week}

{Salads salads and more salads. Insert fork here}

{No devil foods}

Going out....
{Things I'd like to wear for the many many parties I'll be attending. Cuz I'm popular like that...?}

What are your plans/stategy for handling the deliciousness and  indulgence that comes with the Holiday season??

Apparently Michael Jackson lives on....

On Friday nite we managed to "score" some tickets to a performance by our local Philharmonic Orchestra.  I'd be totally full of shit if I said this is my idea of a good time but the nite was dedicated to the Music of Michael Jackson's album, Thriller. A few of my gf's are absolutely gaga for MJ and saw his recent passing as a total tragedy.  Me, I was kind of indifferent but I'll admit I did like him when I was a kid. Thriller was my first "real" album...( album as in a record, for a record player.)
I was never really a huge fan of MJ, ok sure, maybe I fantasized about him appearing/entertaining at my 6th birthday party, popping out of a refrigerator sized box with a big red bow on it. But that was a long time ago and frankly I think that while he was talented he was also obviously crazy as the day is long emotionally unwell.
 Anyway, the philharmonic was fabulous and they were accompanied by an amazing MJ cover band and vocalist....not an impersonator (fortunately). We hit up the after party at a restaurant and bar called Teatro....needless to say the girls and Mama enjoyed a few cocktails in honor of the King of Pop.

{Two guys in the isle dancing to "Thiller" during the performance, of course they knew all the zombie shuffle moves from the original video, really who doesn't?}

{What could be cooler than the cello?}
 {Drinks and pics during intermission}

{More drinks during the after party... and no red leather jacket for me}

 {Dana posing with the "Michael Jackson" for the evening. A great performer and fortunately he didn't resemble the real MJ in anyway}

 {Never allow a Hobbit to take your picture...nothing worse than a shot from below}

 {Our friend Voula (in the white) might be the biggest MJ fan in the world}

 {Dana and Tracy after a just bit more red wine.... Note the MJ wanna-be in the background. Where does one acquire a red leather jacket anyway?}

Thanks for a great nite of music Michael Jackson. You may have been completely wacko, but your music does live on...

Are u trying to tell me something Kid?

Last night, while leaning over Kid#1 to give lots of x's and o's and say a quick bed-time prayer, he stopped me and asked the kind of question I've dreaded.  (No, not where do babies come from...)
Convo was as follows:

Kid #1- Mama, good night, I love you.
Mama- Love u too.
Kid#1- ....(pauses and stares)... What's that on your head?
Mama- What do you mean?
Kid#1- That...those things (points to my forehead.) Those big lines going across your head. Why are they there? Do I have them?
Mama- Uhhh... errr....ummm.... they must be wrinkles.
Kid#1- They get really big when you're mad.
Mama-  Is that a fact? Do you see them anywhere else?
Kid#1- Yeah, between your eyebrows too. Why do you have those?

That's when Mama changed the subject and bid a quick night night to Kid.  'nough said.

So apparently I'm wrinkled...which means I'm old now too. (On top of that, my abundance of grey hair was casually pointed out to me by Husband while at the beach last week). Thanks family.

This means it's time again for another one of Mama's math stylez equations....

{Mama}

{Botox}

=
{Yeah no, having Nicole kidman's over-the-top Botox emotionless yet smug grin isn't exactly what I'm going for...}

But maybe it's time to consider some aging counter measures? A little Botox in the forehead might not be a bad thing? I have friends who've been touting the benefits of  injectable Botulism for years.  But once you start do you have to continue it forever? Forever's a long time....
And I'm not THAT old. Old enough to remember watching Charlie's Angels, The Dukes of Hazzard and even CHiPs.

{C'mon, Erik Estrada was hot}

But I'm also young enough to appreciate the Jonas Brothers.

{Young enough, or lame enough?}

So what's Mama to do? Have you or would you consider Botox? Is my vanity messing with my better judgement? Could the $ spent on injections be better put to use on a new Marc Jacobs bag or better yet, actually spent on helping some worthy cause or group? (Like the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.) I guess when I think about it like that it kinda seems ridiculous...but millions of happy Botox users can't be wrong can they? Is it not time to face the music and start trying to stop the inevitable? Maybe this is truly necessary, I am over 30 after all...(barely).
