Winter blah blah's....part deux

Spring has most definitely not `sprung` where we live.  In fact these pics from last week pretty much tell the tale. The stores are filled with gorgeous spring clothes, shoes and bathing suits etc. and honestly I can't even wrap my mind around wearing them anytime soon. It all that seems a million miles away right now. As awesome as a foot of snow in April is, I'm really over it.

The kids thought the massive snow fall was fantastic. I disagreed.

Since bikini season is still so far away (at least I keep telling myself that) I`m still all about carb loading cooking hearty, satisfying dinners.  BBQ`s, fresh salads and watermelon are sadly not on the menu. (Possibly because our BBQ is buried under the snow.)

Beef Stroganoff with cream cheese, sour cream and white wine.  I might be fearing the beach because of this stuff...

On a brighter note, the kind weather-woman on the local evening news says that ``spring-like`` conditions and seasonally (warmer) temperatures are on their way this week. Bring it on bitch, mama needs to see the light of day...

Hopefully the sun is shining, tulips are popping and flippy-floppy`s are being worn where you live...

Update on my Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips
 Cue: shock and amazement. These nail strips actually held up. Except for some minor peeling at the cuticle, the last pic was taken after 8 days of wear! I`m thinking they`re worth the 10 dollars after all...
Before

After
8 Days...not too shabby Ms. Sally Hansen!

Though I`m getting really tired of Houndstooth...

Gorgeous-ness

Anne Hathaway's new cover for November's Vogue is breathtaking. I've always thought of her as a pretty enough girl in Hollywood but her acting roles come to mind over her beauty.  Not anymore!

Stunning in Crimson

Happy Fridays lovelies...I'll be out for dinner tonight (without kids) for a friends birthday. We're meeting up with a few other couples and trying a new Italian place called Callabro.
 Adult convo + vino + LARGE amounts of pasta = one happy Mama!

I'm not that hungry...for now.

So I posted some of our holiday pics on Facebook the other day and got a lot of great comments from friends and family about how enjoyable our holiday looked. True enough. But then I also got a few comments about how much food/eating/drinking there was in our pics. I guess I hadn't really realized it but it looks like our entire vacation revolved around food and eating. Pictures don't lie. Apparently we spent the whole 5 weeks chowing down in restaruants, tavernas, at our home or at friends homes.  Is that so bad?...only for those who don't enjoy gaining massive amounts of weight I suppose.....

{Out for dinner with the family at a Taverna, that's my Mama beside me}

{Husband and his brother}
{ With sister-in-law out for dinner with the whole family at another Taverna}

{Cousins from Canada enjoying the wine a bit too much!}

{Another day another dinner out}

{Eating at my Mother-in-law's village. Rustic setting but some seriously tasty food!}
{Seafood pasta with Lobster and Octopus}

{At Husbands mom's village, Petravouni}

{Another Taverna with friends from Canada}

{ Husband, a cousin and Kid #2's second birthday party bonanza at our house}

{ 40 people anxious for cake-time}

{My mother in law would kill me if we didn't feed our guests "properly"}

{Cake time!  2 cakes to celebrate 3 birthdays. Apparently you can get a birthday cake with your fave soccer team's logo, and fake leaves, and ribbons, and soccer trophies?! Only in Greece...}

{Out for drinks with my sister-in-laws BFF's}

{Friends over for coffee on the patio}

{My SIL cooks up a mean Octopus (well he's not mean anymore...)}

{Our last dinner at our house, BBQ for 15 people}

 Needless to say that the diet is back on like Donkey Kong. I honestly didn't gain that much weight due to running around after the kids, housework, and sweating profusely in 40 degree celcius weather.
The food in Greece is fabulous and when my mother-in-law is cooking if you don't eat everything on your plate she'll give you the guilt/stink-eye combo. Reason enough to eat up! And honestly, it's not really that hard...

If I could live on Pasta I would....

It's true...in a perfect world I'd be feasting on pasta every damn day. But it's not a perfect world, and I've been working on "Massive Weight Loss 2009" for a year... (henceforth to be referred to as MWL 2009).    Pasta is a double edged sword....delicious yet deadly.  Ok, so deadly is dramatic but I going for heavy emphasis here. On the one hand it's glorious carby-ness could not be a more perfect food, it's versatile, satisfying and so much more than just a side-dish  (no offense potatoes), it's just so darn eff'n good!  But on the other hand at over 300 calories per 85 grams, it's out of control. Who only eats 85g of pasta? Not me.  (500 grams equals 1 pound, and yeah, I can eat a whole pound of pasta).  That's a calorie crime-scene.

It's also a trigger food....once I have a bit I can't really stop. Yes, for most people that's more of a chocolate/fries/sweddish berries sort of a problem... but for me it's pasta. (Linguine really is a little strand of heaven sent from God).

 Life's not fair.  I want pasta, now, like right now (yeah it's 1:30am, so what)?  But's that's not the sort of thing that's happened since I was pregant with kid #2. And look where that got me...fighting with a bitch called MWL 2009.  Gawd I hate her!

Welcome Kids!!

I thought it was about time I started a blog of my own. I've been reading/lurking on others for years and now it's time to write/vent/bitch/celebrate about everything good, bad and interesting in my life. It's gonna be random...everything from dieting and cooking to fashion and all things fabulous.     As for the name of my blog, well I find that being fab and eating pasta just doesn't vibe. For me, it's one or the other!!
